Men's plus size chart, 2XL to 7XL
These are body measurements for Indian men's plus sizes from 2XL (45–47″ chest) to 7XL (60–63″), given both in inches and as the INDIAsize designation — the chest girth in centimetres that India's national standard uses in place of a letter. Measure your own chest and read across.
| Size | IND (cm) | Your chest | Your waist |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2XL | 117 | 45–47″ | 42–44″ |
| 3XL | 125 | 48–50″ | 45–47″ |
| 4XL | 133 | 51–53″ | 48–50″ |
| 5XL | 141 | 54–56″ | 51–53″ |
| 6XL | 149 | 57–59″ | 54–56″ |
| 7XL | 157 | 60–63″ | 57–60″ |
How to measure
- Chest. Around the fullest part, under the arms, tape level front and back, not pulled tight.
- Waist. Where your trousers actually sit, not where you would like them to.
- Between sizes? Take the bigger one.
Measure yourself, not a garment. A t-shirt you already own has stretched, and copying it copies its mistakes.
What IND means
Sizes follow INDIAsize, the national sizing survey run by the Textiles Committee under India's Ministry of Textiles, which measured over 25,000 Indians and designates a man's size by his chest girth in centimetres. The published men's chart stops at 113 cm, below this range, so 2XL to 7XL continue it on the standard's own grade rule of 4 cm a step with the waist 7 cm under the chest.
Where this chart goes beyond the published standard
Worth being explicit about, because it is the part a reader cannot check for themselves. The men's chart the Textiles Committee publishes stops at a chest girth of 113 cm — about 44.5 inches — which is below 2XL on this chart. Every size here is therefore a continuation rather than a quotation: the standard's own grade rule carried upward, two 4 cm steps per size, with the waist held 7 cm under the chest, which is the drop its tabulated chart uses. The method is the standard's; the rows past 113 cm are not in the published document.
Why Indian sizes vary so much between brands
Because most brands relabel a US or UK chart rather than measure Indian bodies, and because a letter is not a measurement. Two 3XL t-shirts from two Indian labels can be three inches apart through the chest. A chart in inches, of the body, is the only thing that compares.
Garment ease, and why the garment is wider than you
A t-shirt cut to fit a 47″ chest measures more than 47″ itself. The difference is ease — the room the pattern is drawn with so the cloth bridges the body instead of stretching across it. On a relaxed cotton tee that is six to seven inches through the chest. Length matters as much: on this range it moves about half an inch per size, so a 7XL still ends at the hip rather than the thigh.
